It is important to remember that baby’s feet are more susceptible to temperatures than ours. They can get much colder than ours can. Therefore, it is important, whether they are still laying on their back, up and crawling about or walking, that you invest in quality especially baby socks that stay on.
If only someone could tell the little critters that it’s important their socks stay on. As all parents know, there’s nothing a kid likes better, especially when they are in that explorative mood, than pulling off their socks.
So, rather than being swayed by just how cute and comfy baby and newborn socks look, you need to also consider whether they will stay on properly. On the other hand, you don’t want to buy any that are too tight and restrictive, because a baby’s feet are obviously very sensitive. So what kinds of socks should you be looking for?

Now that we have discussed the top 10, we felt it was necessary to give you some hints, tips and other things you need to know when buying these important garments.
What Should You Look For?
As we’ve mentioned and as should be abundantly clear to anyone with working eyes, a baby’s feet are very small. Some would say tiny. So, the first thing that you need to consider when buying them, is the size.
The size is categorized in the same way that all baby clothing is, by their age. It’s fair to say that not all babies grow at the same rate, so if you have a baby who is big for their age, you may find that although they are designed for their age group they are not suitable.
Another aspect of their size you need to consider is that they fit snugly enough, but not too tight. The last thing you want is your little one’s feet being too restricted and suffering from pairs that are too tight. If you’ve never heard of sock-line hypertension, trust us it’s something you want to avoid.
It will make your baby’s feet look like something out of a horror movie! At present, there is inconclusive evidence, but some of the studies that have been conducted into this condition suggest if the problem persisted it could cause permanent scarring or even the loss of sensation and circulation.
The bottom line is, don’t put your baby in ones that are too tight.
Kids get just about anywhere, including those polished wooden and tiled flooring. When they are at the toddler stage of trying to walk on their feet, the potential for them to slip and fall over is huge.
That is why you will find, particularly looking at the top 10 products we highlighted above, that many manufacturers have designed them to be anti-skid and anti-slip. These types feature gripper-designs on the soles.
How To Wash
They are very easy to wash, as most brands make them compatible with the washing in the machine. So, there is no need to wash hundreds and hundreds of individual pairs in the sink or a basin by hand. Unless of course, you know, you really like doing that.
But we know that the evil washing machine monster likes nothing better than to give us all headaches by gobbling up single socks and effectively ruining pairs. To avoid that though, you could either:
Clip them together before you put them through the washing machine, or place all those cute and pretty pairs in a washable linen bag, or even a nylon stocking if you have any to spare.
It’s surprising the number of people who only consider footwear for their little ones as an afterthought. Given how important they are, because kids tend to lose a lot of heat through their extremities and quickly, they should be somewhere in the top half of the list of must-have garments.
Hopefully, though, now that we have introduced you to our selection of the top 10, you will no longer find it a stressful task trying to sift through the pages and pages of identical products.
