Thinking of getting a stand mixer? Or already got one and not sure what to make? There are sos many things that you can make with a stand mixer including Muffins, Macarons, bread and even pate!
If you don’t already have one then check out this article on the best affordable stand alone mixer.
1) Macarons
A classic French treat! I fell in love the first time I tried these, so much that I started a blog all about them! They are best when made fresh, but you can make them ahead of time and store in an air-tight container. Simply let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to serving so they soften up.
2) Muffins
Muffins are really easy, versatile, and very good warm! You can make them sweet or savory. If you want to go savory with muffins, I’d suggest going for a traditional cornbread recipe instead of just mixing some cornmeal in with the flour.
3) Pies (savoury)
You can make pies that are just like your grandma’s, savoury. Not only is it a great way to use up any leftovers you may have lying around in the fridge, but you can do sweet or savory pies!
4) Bread (savoury or sweet!)
Bread is one of the most satisfying things in the world, and also has tons of practical applications. You can make bread with a stand mixer that is more like what you get at a bakery or fancy restaurant, or even loaf bread.
5) Doughnuts / Donuts
Any kind of doughnut! Savoury, sweet, filled with custard or jelly or jam can be made in a stand alone mixer. You can even make old fashioned square ones.
6) Croissants
These are one of the most popular things to make with a stand mixer. They take some time and effort but they are more than worth it! Plus you get that amazing buttery smell in your kitchen…
7) Sweet rolls
These are really good and very versatile. You can make cinnamon buns, whoopie pies, sticky buns, cream cheese sweet rolls etc. The possibilities are endless!
8) Yogurt
If you have a stand mixer with a whisk attached, you can whip up some thick and creamy yogurt at home. You don’t need to buy a special yogurt maker. I generally make my own greek yogurt with vanilla extract added for flavour, but it’s good plain too!
9) Salad dressing
If you have a stand mixer with a whisk attachment, you can whip up your own salad dressing. This was actually how I got interested in cooking, I found out you can whip up your own cream cheese dressing which is better than store bought and way cheaper!
10) Pate
If you have a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, you can easily make pate with it. It’s ready in no time at all, and you can season it any way you like.
11) Kneading dough
Kneading dough with a stand mixer is very easy. I usually use half all purpose flour and half whole wheat flour for the easiest time with kneading dough (especially if self-raising flour), but this works fine with plain white flour too.
